SF REIKI CENTER's Honolulu Debut

On May 11th, 2017 SF REIKI CENTER went to Honolulu to teach Reiki First Degree.

I was invited by Kyleigh Omori, who studied Reiki with me over a year ago in San Francisco.  Kyleigh greeted me in Honolulu and gave me a traditional Lei. Kyleigh explained that a Lei is for “special occasions.”

Mom's Reiki Circle

by: Katell Marmasse

As Mothers, we need to take care of our children, our house, our partner and we often forget to take care of ourselves.

The Reiki Mom Circle provides an opportunity for mothers and mothers-to-be to share our thoughts, feelings and worries in a safe environment. We discuss our emotionals, spirituals and physicals issues and also how we use Reiki in our daily lives

The Women’s Circle at SF REIKI CENTER

By Marian Isel Barragán

The Women’s Circle held its first meeting in November of 2015 at SF REIKI CENTER. Tamara Loewenstein (my co-organizer and co-conspirator) and I felt the need to create a woman-identified space within our Reiki practice. As advocates of social justice, we decided that our work would include collecting donations at each meeting to support local organizations that advocate for women. Being intersectional feminists, we know that means: supporting workers rights, earth protectors, immigrant rights, youth etc.  Since our inception, we’ve collected almost $1,000 for 14 social justice organizations, reliefs, and efforts. With our donations, we also support SF REIKI CENTER for hosting our work.

Reiki and Breast Cancer

In an editorial entitled “Alternative Therapy for Breast Cancer: Outcomes, Obstacles and Opportunities” published in the April 2011 issue of Annals of Surgical Oncology, author Sheldon Marc Feldman, MD, FACS, and Chief of Breast Surgical Oncology at New York’s Columbia University Medical Center discusses research that supports his rationale for inviting Reiki practitioners to assist with his breast cancer patients. His article presents a scientifically supported view as to why patients require more than just traditional Western medicine in order to face cancer. He states unequivocally that patients who are resistant to receiving the proven life-saving treatments of surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation are much more likely to accept these traditional treatments when they are being offered in partnership with alternative healing methods, thereby increasing their chances for survival from their disease. I quote Dr. Feldman here: At Columbia, we have initiated a study that incorporates the role of Reiki practitioners in applying mind–body principles and energy healing to help to prepare patients for breast cancer surgery and emotionally accept the loss of their breast(s). We must continue to strive to provide care that is patient-centered and reduces the stress and trauma of disease.

Reiki and Camping, what a wonderful combination!!

This past weekend I had the opportunity to give Reiki to a couple of friends while I was camping at Clear Lake State Park in California. One friend was experiencing allergies and the other had a headache. The reiki, http://nccam.nih.gov/health/reiki/ supported the healing process for both my friends.
