TREATMENTS

"Reiki" (pronounced "ray-key"), is a Japanese word meaning "Universal Life Energy."  Reiki is an ancient healing art of channeling energy through the palms of the hands. This vital spiritual energy activates the natural healing processes, detoxifying the body of both physical and emotional blockages while bringing about deep relaxation and calmness.

At SF REIKI CENTER we offer Private Reiki Sessions, Distance Reiki, and a Monday evening Reiki Clinic

All Reiki Sessions treat all the vital organs, the head, torso, back, and feet. Prior to the session we will identify your specific needs, in particular specific areas of the body, emotional or mental concerns you would like us to pay special attention to.

REIKI SESSIONS

Treat the vital organs, the head, torso, and feet. Prior to the session we asses your specific needs, in particular specific areas of the body, emotional or mental concerns clients want to work on.

During a session a client should plan to wear comfortable clothing.  The practitioner gently places his hands on the fully clothed client and holds positions for various lengths depending on how much Reiki energy is needed to the particular area.

The Reiki experience is unique to every individual. Clients often feel warmth flowing throughout their bodies leaving them feeling relaxed and calm. Many clients fall asleep during sessions or go into a deep meditation.

After a Reiki treatment it is advised to drink plenty of water and get a good night's sleep. The excess water will assist in flushing out the toxins stored in the kidneys and liver.  Reiki treatments work in conjunction with conventional medicine and enhance the benefits of psychotherapy, surgery, and drugs. We believe in providing accessible holistic health care and will work with you to develop an individualized reiki rountine that best fits your needs.

Distance reiki

Distance reiki healing is for people who cannot come in for a private session.  Clients are often busy, under the weather, in need of Reiki immediately, or have been referred, and the practitioner and the client live in different cities. In these cases Reiki can be sent across distances from the practitioner to the client. Practitioners focus on a photograph of the client and utilize sacred Reiki symbols that connect energy from the practitioner to the client. Distance Reiki healing is set up for a time when the client is in a safe relaxed space, usually after work or in bed.

Distance Reiki healing can be scheduled during stressful times, such as just before and just after surgeries, childbirth, when you are suffering from cold or flu, or are experiencing sadness or grief. Additionally, clients purchase Distance Reiki treatments for sick family members, homebound seniors, family or friends in hospitals or nursing homes.

Questions about Reiki

1. What is Reiki?

Reiki is an ancient technique of channeling energy through the palms of the hands in a gentle non-invasive manor. This vital spiritual energy activates the natural healing processes, detoxifying the body of both physical and emotional blockages while bringing about deep relaxation and calmness. Developed early in the 20th century by Dr. Mikao Usui. While on a meditation retreat on Mt Kurama, a holy mountain in Japan, Dr Usui became aware of Reiki energy and discovered that it enhanced his healing abilities. The term comes from two Japanese words, “Rei,” meaning “universal,”, and “Ki,” or “life force energy.” Reiki can be loosely translated as “universal life-force energy.”

2. How does Reiki work?

Reiki works by increasing the “life force energy” that flows through us and around us and causes us to be alive. The life force is responsive to our thoughts or feelings, and can become disrupted and diminished by negative thoughts or feelings, especially about ourselves. If this energy is low we are at greater risk of becoming sick or stressed. If our life force energy is high we are more likely to be happy and healthy.

Reiki provides a positive boost of “ki,” which raises the energy field’s vibratory level in and around the negatively affected areas of the body, causing negative energy to dissipate and fall away. Thus, Reiki restores the healthy, natural flow of the life force.

3. Is Reiki a religious practice?

Reiki is not a religion. It is a philosophy of care that teaches practitioners to relate to a person’s core or essence rather than their personality; to listen without passing judgment, to be willing not to know or understand the “why’s” underlying a patient’s symptoms; and not to view a patient’s response to Reiki treatment as a personal achievement. The practitioner provides a conduit for the universal life-force energy but does not control the process.

Dr. Usui taught his students 5 precepts:

Just for today, do not worry.

Just for today, do not anger.

Honor your parents, teachers, and elders.

Earn your living honestly.

Show gratitude to every living thing.
