Reiki for the People: Expanding Access and Community Impact

Reiki is a higher consciousness energy—a great white light that exists both around and within us. Through ongoing practice with clients and students, recitation of the Reiki precepts, and dedicated Reiki meditation, I continue to deepen my connection with Reiki. Reiki consistently reveals the next right action.

Last summer, while attending the Northwest Reiki Gathering, I felt guided to offer a sliding-scale Reiki class to the Latino community. Many Latinos are experiencing significant fear and uncertainty related to deportation, regardless of status. I recognized that Reiki could provide a sense of grounding, calm, and nourishment during this period. I also understood that the standard pricing for Reiki Level One training can be a barrier for some.

After nine months of development, this vision came to fruition. With the support of my Master Candidate, Angela, we partnered with the Multicultural Institute. In March, shortly after returning from Japan, I had the privilege of teaching 14 Spanish-speaking students. My Master Candidates, Andrei and Angela, provided interpretation, making the training accessible and inclusive.

This experience reaffirmed our commitment to equity and accessibility—core values of SF Reiki Center. We will continue offering sliding-scale classes in partnership with nonprofit organizations. Soon, we plan to launch a philanthropic initiative, Reiki for the People, through which we will pursue grant funding to expand this work.

If you are affiliated with a nonprofit—or know of one that may be interested in partnering with us—please reach out. Donations in support of equity and accessibility are also welcome; feel free to contact us for available giving options.

Reiki belongs to everyone. If you feel called to support this work—whether through partnership, donation, or simply sharing this post with someone who might benefit—I welcome your involvement. Together, we can continue to bring the healing power of Reiki to those who need it most.
