Reiki Community Comes Together for the 41st Annual Northwest Reiki Gathering

2025 NORTHWEST REIKI GATHERING REIKI ~ LIFE’S SPRING WITH SUSAN AND PAUL MITCHELL

Weekend Gathering: July 18 - 20
Master Time: July 20 - 22

Christopher first attended the Northwest Reiki Gathering (NWRG) in 2015, where he connected with Reiki practitioners from across the United States—many of whom are now close friends and colleagues. For him, the gathering offers a unique and enriching experience: daily Reiki sessions, meaningful conversations, plenty of joyful moments, and the profound energy of shared healing.

Today, Christopher serves on the Board of Trustees for the Northwest Reiki Gathering, helping to guide the event that has meant so much to him over the years.

More about Susan and Paul

Susan and Paul Mitchell

Paul and Susan both learned Reiki from Hawayo Takata in 1978. They dove into Reiki practice after their first-degree class, putting their hands on everyone who would let them.

Susan was the first director of The Reiki Alliance from 1988 to 1998 and an editor of the Dutch Reiki Magazine International. She helped curate the Hawayo Takata archives, which are now housed at the University of California, Santa Barbara. In 2019, Susan had the honor of editing In Her Own Voice, A Tribute to Phyllis Lei Furumoto, 1948 to 2019.

Susan is the co-founder of Reiki Unified, a non-profit grassroots organization focused on protecting U.S. Reiki practitioners from certification and licensing.

Paul is one of the twenty-two masters initiated by Mrs. Takata before she died in 1980. He was a founding member of The Reiki Alliance and in 1993 was recognized as Head of the Discipline of Usui Shiki Ryoho by Phyllis Furumoto. They formed the Office of Grand Master (OGM).

For the last thirty years, Paul has facilitated workshops, retreats, and intensives supporting the worldwide Reiki community.

Since Phyllis’ death in 2019, he continues his work in the OGM with Johannes Reindl and Joyce Winough. Paul is committed to the life-long journey of healing, growth, and spiritual development..
